Last Night in Miami: LANVIN Fashion Show!!

Last night, I had the honor of attending an evening of charity and fashion at the Fountainebleu hotel in Miami Beach. The event was sponsored by the shops at Bal Harbour & LANVIN to benefit Project Newborn. I got there in time to browse the silent auction goodies--there was so much up for auction! The crowd was bidding of luxurious things like fashion items from Bal Harbour Shops like Carolina Herrera and Yves Saint Laurent, and weekends at Miami Beach hotels like the FB and the Mandarin, just to name a few.

At around 9pm, IT HAPPENED. The FIRST EVER LANVIN RUNWAY SHOW IN THE USA. The clothes were UNBELIEVABLE. I was situated at the end of the runway by all the other press and photogs and the spotlight made getting pictures kinda tricky. With that said, please excuse some of my photos that look overexposed--I did the best I could! It was such an amazing experience and I am so grateful I got to attend.

Note, things got a little nippy in Miami this weekend, hence the faux fur vest. People here are so funny--it gets down to 60 degrees and people bust out the winter clothes. I love it. Silly Miami.

daily dose of glam

Thank heavens for This is Glamorous for giving me glam photos to salivate over on a daily basis. Over the weekend I re-read The Debutante Divorcee and this website reminds me so much of that book, as well as Plum Sykes other huge hit, Bergdorf Blondes. The pink dress in particular reminds me of Tinsley: "I can't have a job because I can only dress for the gym and for evening." Tres chic!

blog crush <3

I always read Victoria Tornegren's blog (er, read is kind of a stretch, since its in Swedish), and I love looking at her pictures. Victoria is pretty consistent in her style, mostly black clothes and stark-white hair with extensions. I think she is a great example of how you don't have to have a bunch of crazy clothes to look stylish... though it is nice when she adds a splash of leopard like in this recent photo:

Miami Funkshion - KREL @ the Setai

Wednesday night, Exposed PR head Sara and I went to the KREL fashion show at the Setai on Miami Beach. The show started about an hour and a half late, but the Setai has such a great vibe it wasn't bad just hanging out poolside and sipping cocktails.

The models were so over the top and fabulous, with big teased hair and dramatic doll-like makeup. The knit wear was so fun, especially the thick stockings worn under the teetering platforms.

did you miss me?

Sorry I have been MIA the past week! It's been a wild time, I was sick, then I had my birthday (thanks for all the warm wishes!), now I've got fashion week... sigggh. Anyway, here are some updates and a lovely photo from my beautiful friend Jenn of us at Evelyn Lozada's shoe party about 2 weeks ago.

Anyhoo, tonight is the opening night of Funkshion Fashion Week... so time to gather up your finest fashions and go mingle among some of Miami's most stylish folks. I'll be there with the lovely Sara Shake of @ExposedPR. Tomorrow, I'm braving the crowds and strutting down a runway (eek!) for the most AMAZING new swimsuit line of  Lopez Henrique Couture, previously mentioned here. Friday my big brother will be here, and of course fashion week continues through the weekend, though I'll be attending the ShopSwagg event on Saturday.

Can I catch my breath yet? Hey, I guess you get what you wish for. For my latest updates, don't forget to follow me on Twitter, @itsmeerikat

sunday funday

Regretfully, I didn't take any photos from Oktoberfest other than a few mobile uploads of my beer/bratwurst (you can see them on facebook), which were absolutely DELICIOUS! I miss Germany!

After a couple hours of listening to Bavarian music, we decided to take our little afternoon to Blissberry on South Beach for some ice cream. It was such a fun afternoon and it made me sad the weekend is over...anyway, here's the emsemble I wore!

borrowed from the boys

Just another day at work. Told you that mirror would be back! I felt a little lazy this morning so I borrowed a super soft shirt from Novio. Guys clothes are definitely more comfortable! But tailored enough when tucked into skinny jeans to pass as work-wear. Also, check out how tan my feet look! I'm obsessed with Jergens Daily Glow Moisturizer...I haven't tanned the old fashion way in a while. Well except for that trip to the pool a few weeks ago...but still. Happy weekend everyone! I've got BIG THINGS to post at the end of this weekend so I hope you all enjoy! PS I cut 1.5 inches off my hair and changed the color! Can anyone tell?? xoxo

Oh and please excuse my face/facial expression...I dont wear makeup to work! I think I look a little "hippy" too...hopefully because I'm standing sort of bowlegged. Anyway enough critiquing myself!! :)

gossip girl: fashion inspiration

Gossip Girl is merely four episodes in (the fourth is airing as I type this) and I feel its time to pay homage to Serena's style thus far. Her clothes SCREAM Paris (but of course) and finding similar items was pretty tough....which is why they are a little different, i.e. the ruffled green maxi is now a jumpsuit.

hope you like! Maybe THIS is more like my Miami Fall Fashion picks considering its never going to get cold here...

model muse: cristina tosio

I saw pictures of Cristina Tosio in an issue of Spanish Elle a few months ago and I literally hunted down her identity. Her look reminds me of Sienna Miller in Alfie and makes me want bangs like crazy.
Hair Color:Blonde
Eye Color:Green
Place of Birth:Madrid, Spain
Height:5'9" ; 175cm

i think she is too cute in the first shot. And I want her legs! But seriously...she is quickly becoming one of my favorite models! If you look her up, you'll see she's had her hair red, brown, and blonde...personally I like the blonde. Duh.
